How Becoming A Girl Boss Led Me To A Passion For Self-Care

Prior to starting my own business, I had never really put myself first.  Like everyone else, I heard the term “self-care” thrown around but never gave it much thought.  It sounds complicated, or time-consuming, and as a stay-at-home mom with two boys, I had zero time.

In 2015 I was staying home with my two boys, ages, 8 and 4.  I am an introvert, so I am not very outgoing, and don’t join moms groups, social clubs, or anything like that.  I was wearing so many hats that I had no idea who I was. What are these hats I am talking about? Wife, mom, daughter, aunt, sister, friend, chef, taxi driver, babysitter – You name it I was doing it.  But where was Carissa in all those roles? I was so busy doing for everyone else, I never did anything for myself.

A friend sent me samples of some skincare products she was selling in May 2015 and I was immediately hooked.  I have always been a sucker for good smelling products, but at this point in my life I was in my early thirties and my face was freaking out.  I tried the face wash she sent and my skin cleared up immediately and I fell in love. I joined merely to get a discount on this miracle face wash that cleared up my skin – NOT to start a business.

Five months later I had promoted five times to a leader position in the top 1% of the company.  I fell in love with being a leader and promoting these amazing products. Little did I know that I would also find my passion, and embark on a journey that would change not only my life, but other people’s as well.

I am now a firm believer that self-care is not selfish and I participate in some form of self-care every single day.  Most days I start off at the gym for an hour, and end with a hot bath to relax before bed. Sometimes I sit in my backyard oasis and read a book, sometimes I binge on Netflix, and sometimes I just do nothing.  I’ve come to learn that self-care doesn’t have to be time-consuming or break the bank…  That if we just take 5-10 minutes for ourselves each and every day, we can recharge and reset.  It is my passion to share the importance of self-care with the world.

“I am now a firm believer that self-care is not selfish and I participate in some form of self-care every single day.”

I have hundreds of customers and teammates that I share this passion with every single day, and together we are sharing that passion with the world.  Never in a million years would I have thought I would join a direct sales company in my thirties. Not only did I join a company, but I also fell in love with leading a team, and teaching my customers about the importance of self–care and skincare.

Becoming a girl boss taught me the importance of taking time for me, and gave me a passion that I am proud to share with everyone around me!

I am Carissa, and this is my Posh Life.  I am a 37 year old stay-at-home mama to 2 boys, ages 7 and 12, and I have been married to Kyle for 15 years!  We live in Mississippi with our 3 cats and silver lab, Sadie Belle.

Three years ago, I bought a box of products so I could get a lifetime discount.  Soon thereafter, I fell in love with sharing the products and connecting with other women.  I found a passion for self-care, and want to make sure that everyone knows how important it is to fill their cup.

I have made it my mission in life to spread self-care awareness and the need for women to slow down and recharge.  As women, we are so busy all the time – whether it be with work, motherhood, hobbies, or all of the above. It is so hard to just stop and take a minute for ourselves.  Hopefully, through my site I can help you understand that self-care is NOT selfish – it is 100% necessary for not only our well-being, but for the well-being of everyone else in our lives as well.
